What’s on TV tonight? Shows to watch on Saturday 4 November from Strictly Come Dancing to The X Factor
Also on tonight Gunpowder and John Widdicombe: What do I do now?
WHAT can't you miss on TV tonight? Our guide to the must-see shows...
LIVE! Strictly Come Dancing, 6.50pm, BBC One
From Jonnie’s awe-inspiring quickstep and Alexandra’s barnstorming Proud Mary jive, to Craig Revel Horwood’s (left) flamboyant impression of Bruno Tonioli (right) when he was missing in action in LA, this season has been full of near-perfect performances.
Now we’re down to the final nine, and here’s the point where things get serious.
There will be no fudging of fleckerls, no substitute for swivel and no half-hearted heel leads that will go unnoticed by our judges.
They want faultless footwork and hip action.
Luckily for the remaining celebs, if they do go wrong tonight, Darcey Bussell (second left) will be on hand to offer some constructive criticism.
And it might give the edge to one of the two couples who face the dreaded dance-off in tomorrow night’s results show.
LIVE! The X Factor, 8.20pm, ITV
We may only be a week in, but we can’t see ourselves getting used to this new live show format anytime soon, since Simon Cowell (right) and co decided to shake things up a little.
With no results show as such and contestants being eliminated on both Saturday and Sunday nights, it all feels like a bit of a bloodbath. Still, it keeps everyone on their toes, right?
LAST IN SERIES! Gunpowder, 9.10pm, BBC One
Guy Fawkes (Tom Cullen, above) isn’t exactly personable, is he?
Catesby does his best to try to get to know him in this series finale, and we do find out that he’s married, but he’s an enigmatic soul.
Still, he’s got a lot on his mind. The gunpowder has arrived and the plot to blow up Parliament is imminent. Until Father Gerard is loose-lipped…
NEW! Josh Widdicombe: What Do I Do Now? 9pm, BBC Two
The Last Leg star picks up on the problems of airports, eating yoghurts without a spoon, contactless card payments and growing up in Devon in a sharp stand-up set recorded last year.
It’s not just silly observations, though. Josh (above) also talks about a break-up, which was the “second hardest thing in the world, after picking up CDs from a laminate floor”.
