The pair went on to have huge chart success as a double act.
However Ike turned violent, forcing Tina to flee with no money in the late 1970s.
She reinvented herself and became one of the world’s biggest stars – selling over 200 million records.

She said: “By December 2016, my kidneys were at 20% and plunging rapidly. I faced two choices: either regular dialysis or a kidney transplant. Only the transplant would give me a good chance of a near-normal life. But the chances of getting a donor kidney were remote."
After the husband and wife were found to be an organ match, the operation went ahead and was successful.
“I’m still here," she said. "We’re both still here, closer than we ever imagined.”
She divorced from Ike Turner in 1978 after being subjected to domestic violence.
