EMMERDALE viewers were covering their ears tonight when a risqué joke about "beating off" was made at 7.22pm - well before the watershed.
Paddy Kirk sent fans into a frenzy as he made a wry gag about his love life during the episode, and some people watching then declared their intention to complain to Ofcom.
The scandalous joke was made after comedy character Paddy and gorgeous pub boss Chas decided to become a couple for good despite his previous romance with Rhona - which left the surprising lothario shaken up.
Later, when Aaron Dingle asked Paddy how he was doing in the Woolpack, he replied: "You know, still beating off.... beautiful women.... with a stick."
The pauses between his words and his intonations made some viewers giggle - but others noticed it was a very rude joke to come more than an hour before the watershed.
Children may well have heard the gag made by the unlikely bald ladies' man, played by Dominic Brunt, who is known for his cheeky side.
Last night's episode saw him being told off for teaching a young child the F-word.
Annoyed Emmerdalians took to Twitter in their droves to tell Paddy off for his lack of gentility.
However, others found it hilarious and congratulated the "dirty boy" on his verbal wit.
It's no wonder Paddy has got one thing on his mind after his very noisy romp with Chas who viewers say was "neighing" like a horse throughout.
Emmerdale continues tonight at 8pm on ITV.
