Who is Tosin Cole? Doctor Who’s companion who has starred in Star Wars, EastEnders: E20 and Hollyoaks

Tosin Cole has been on our screens for an EastEnders spinoff, Hollyoaks and a speaking part in Star Wars.

NEW Doctor Jodie Whittaker has been joined by a lot more new faces when she took over the Tardis.

Among the new companions, the thirteenth Doctor is being joined by Tosin Cole, who viewers may recognise from EastEnders, Hollyoaks - and even Star Wars.

Who is Tosin Cole?

British actor Tosin Cole first appeared on TV screens in 2010 in BBC teen drama the Cut.

He then moved on to star in EastEnders spin-off EastEnders: E20 and short films such as Me and My Dad and Jasmine.

Before these roles, he was part of a theatre production called Wasted!, a modern reproduction of Julius Caesar which was produced by Intermission, a company which helps teenagers avoid getting involved with crime.

When was Tosin Cole in Eastenders: E20, Hollyoaks and Holby City?

After the Cut, Cole secured the role of Sol Levi in Eastenders: E20, a spin-off of the British soap opera.

He was required to learn to dance and perform his routine in front of professional dance group Flawless in the finale, and described the experience as ‘very, very, very stressful.’

In 2011, Cole was cast as Neil Cooper in Hollyoaks, which many people recognise him from.
He has also played Keith Potts in Holby City.

What part did Tosin Cole play in Star Wars?

Cole made a brief appearance in Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens as X-Wing pilot Lieutenant Bastian.

He played the part of Red Four, a member of Poe Dameron’s Red Squadron taking part in the attack on Starkiller Base, and said the lines “Direct hit! But no damage.”

When did Doctor Who series 11 start?

The first appearance of Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor was in the closing scenes of last year’s Christmas special Twice Upon A Time.

The current series premiered in autumn 2018.

Instead of the usual set of twelve 45 minute episodes per series, Jodie Whittaker’s series feature ten 50 minute episodes.
