THIS Morning viewers heaped praise on “inspirational” single dad Benjamin Carpenter after he appeared on the show today with his four children.
The “super-dad” adopted the four youngsters, who’ve all got disabilities, after longing to become a father.
Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford were overwhelmed by the 33-year-old's kind heart after learning about the needs of his brood.
When asked why he wanted to adopt Jack, 10, Ruby, six, Lily, five, and two-year-old Joseph, Benjamin explained: “I only wanted to be a father.
“Having biological children isn’t the be-all and end-all.
“But I know people might look at me and think, ‘What is he doing?’”
As his children sat next to him, Benjamin, who became one of the youngest gay men in Yorkshire to adopt, continued: “Jack has autism and Ruby has such complex needs it would take me all day to explain them.
“Lily is profoundly deaf and Joseph has Down’s Syndrome.”
Benjamin went on to explain how he was brought up in a religious background where he was encouraged to show love by helping others.
Although he revealed the children are the best thing that ever happened to him, he admitted it’s not always easy.
Benjamin explained: “I won’t sugar coat it. It comes with stresses and strains but it’s the best thing you could ever do. I rise above any nasty comments.”
When the interview ended, Eamonn reached out to shake Benjamin’s hand to thank him for coming on the show.
He went on to hail him as an “inspiration” and a “super-dad”, sentiments which were echoed by viewers at home.
One tweeted: “Wow amazing dad. such a loving person. I know your children will be giving you as much love as you give them. That makes it worth it.”
A second commented: “How sweet are these kids on @thismorning the dad is amazing! 4 kids with different special needs and they look like such a loving family.”
While a third said: “The single dad who adopted 4 additional needs children on @thismorning just filled my heart with so much warmth.”
