Gerard James Butler, 48, was born November 13, 1969, and is a Scottish actor, producer, and singer.

After studying law, the hunky actor turned to acting in the mid-1990s with small roles in productions such as Mrs Brown (1997), the James Bond film Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), and Tale of the Mummy (1998).

But it was only in 2007 that Gerard gained worldwide recognition for his portrayal of King Leonidas in fantasy war film 300.

After this the roles poured in for the handsome star, this includes P.S I Love You (2007), Legend of the Boneknapper Dragon (2010), Gift of the Night Fury (2011) and How to Train Your Dragon 2 (2014).

Plus The Ugly Truth (2009), Olympus Has Fallen (2013) and it's follow up film London Has Fallen (2016).

When did Gerard Butler have a motorcycle accident?

Gerard Butler is lucky to be alive following a motorcycle accident in October 2017.

“I was going along the road doing my thing and this lady decided to go from parked on the other side of the road to an illegal U-Turn and went right in front of me,” Gerard told Entertainment Tonight. “I smacked the car, went flying through the air and did a somersault and landed and it hurt a bit.”

Gerard described the accident as “painful” and was taken to a nearby hospital.

“I have five fractures in my right foot alone [and] a bunch of stupid stuff, a torn meniscus, but I’ll be fine,” he said.

Going through such a traumatic collision has left Butler a bit more reflective.

“[The accident] made me really appreciate how precious life is because I could have landed any number of ways that would have taken me out,” he said.

What happened to his Malibu house in the California wildfires?

On November 12, 2018, Gerard revealed his 'heartbreak' at finding the charred remains of his home that was ravaged by the California wildfires.

California's worst-ever wildfires has already claimed at least 31 dead and saw 300,000 flee in terror, including Simon Cowell, Lady Gaga and Kim Kardashian.

Gerard shared a selfie on Instagram after returning to his house that showed his home burned to the ground behind him.

Alongside the picture, he wrote: "Returned to my house in Malibu after evacuating. Heartbreaking time across California. Inspired as ever by the courage, spirit and sacrifice of firefighters."
