Ryan Thomas looks glum as he posts pictures behind the scenes from Neighbours set and admits to missing his family as ‘ex’ Lucy Mecklenburgh looks happier than ever on raw food retreat
RYAN Thomas seemed downcast as he posed for a pic behind the scenes of Neighbours, while his 'ex' girlfriend Lucy Mecklenburgh looked refreshed on a raw food retreat in Marbella.
The pair, who grew close on Bear Grylls' Celebrity Island, appeared to split just days ago after Lucy posted on social media how she "always attracts frogs/toads" and Ryan followed it with a gym post in which he cryptically wrote: "I'll give you one more chance?"
In his latest post, Ryan is sat atop a dirt bike in shorts and T-shirt with a glum look on his face.
In contrast Lucy looked incredible in a black bikini on an exotic retreat.
She captioned it: "Feeling refreshed, full of energy & educated after my raw food retreat! Excited for new ventures 🙌🏻🥑🥕💪🏽😉👙🏝☀️"
Just days ago Ryan shared his cryptic message about giving someone another chance, one day after girlfriend Lucy's frog post.
Posting a picture of himself in the gym, the 33-year-old wrote: "mirror mirror on the wall who's the fairest of them all!? "........I'll give you one more chance!?”
It followed Lucy’s post of a picture of a frog, which was captioned: "I seem to attract frogs/toads."
While the 26-year-old may have simply been pointing out that she keeps seeing frogs, some fans believe she was referring to the expression ‘you have to kiss a lot of frogs to find your prince’, as it came just hours after it was revealed Ryan had won a role on Neighbours.
The former Corrie star will be heading to Ramsay Street to play a "handsome devil" bad boy in the Aussie soap - but it's unclear what this will mean for his romance with Lucy as they will be living on different sides of the world.
Ex Towie star, Lucy, met Ryan while filming Bear Grylls' Celebrity Island together earlier this year, but only went public back in July.
Since then things have been going from strength to strength with Lucy even spending time with Ryan's daughter Scarlett, from his romance with former co-star Tina O'Brien.
Meanwhile Ryan is set to make a mark Down Under as soon as he arrives on-screen as role of loner Rafael Humphreys, with producers promising the dark plot line will "see him confront a difficult chapter from his past."
Telly addicts won't have too long to wait to see the northerner in his first acting job since Corrie's Jason Grimshaw, with scenes set to air early next year.
Talking of his return to soaps Ryan said: “I grew up watching Neighbours so to get the chance to join the cast is amazing.
“I was on holiday with my daughter when I got a phone call from my agent asking if I’d like to play this part.
"I spoke to the producer and found out more - it was very different from anything I’d played before - it was quite a deep, dark story, that really interested me.
“It’s a new challenge and I can’t wait to start filming.”
Greg Barnett, Commissioning Editor at Channel 5 added: “With his good looks and Corrie years under his belt, Ryan is the perfect handsome devil.
"His arrival in Erinsborough marks the start of darker times for a particular Ramsay St favourite. Prepare to be gripped.”
The Salford lad quit ITV soap Corrie in 2016.
