Since then their relationship has gone from strength to strength and today, Sophie posted a picture on her Instagram confirming the DNCE singer had popped the question.

Alongside the caption "I said yes", Sophie shared a picture of her hand covering Joe's, with a beautiful diamond ring on her left hand.

Joe, 28, shared the same picture on his Instagram page, writing: "She said yes" alongside it.

Joe's younger brother and fellow singer Nick Jonas was quick to congratulate the pair, writing on Twitter: "Ahh! Congratulations to my brother... and sister in law to be on your engagement.

"I love you both so much."

Sophie, 21, told The Sunday Times earlier this year about her relationship, saying: "I’m in a relationship, but it’s a very private relationship.

"I’m happier than I’ve been in a very long time."

However she did admit that there were downsides to being in such a high profile couple.

She told Time Magazine: "You do feel like you're living in a fishbowl, it's frustrating [that] it's the most mundane things that make the news—how boring!"

But there are plus sides too, with her telling InStyle Magazine: "I found it easier to date someone who understands the industry or is in that world.

“You realise that you’re not going to see each other all the time, and you don’t feel like a jerk when you’re like, ‘My publicist says I can’t do this …'"
