CHARLOTTE Hawkins has become the third star to be eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing 2017 after failing to impress viewers with her jive.

The Good Morning Britain newsreader and her professional partner Brendan Cole were given the heave-ho after a tense dance-off with EastEnders actor Davood Ghadami.

Charlotte, 42, came bottom of the leaderboard along with Simon Rimmer when she scored a quite basic judges' score of 19 this weekend.

Seeing as her dance-off rival Davood and partner Nadiya Bychkova had scored a much more healthy 29, Charlotte must have known she was for the chop.

The married mum-of-one has caused controversy during her time on the show - after her "disastrous" Week Two dance that scored her a 12.

And the drama continued when Brendan argued with Head Judge Shirley Ballas a week later over whether he'd got the tango technique right.

This week Brendan and Charlotte didn't fare much better with their jive, which was danced to Marry You by Bruno Mars.

Meanwhile the leader board was topped by Alexandra Burke and her partner Gorka Marquez - who nabbed a very respectable 39.

Charlotte has been fiercely defended by Piers Morgan during her time on the BBC contest.

He called Shirley Ballas a "sour-faced creature" for being mean about his co-presenter's dancing - though is comment may not have helped Charlotte much in reality.

Twelve couples now remain in the competition, and one person hoping his wife will soon get kicked off is Eamonn Holmes.

Ruth Langsford's husband today slammed the BBC for the conditions in which they record the live shows on Saturday, saying they treat the audience "like cattle".
