In a series of now deleted tweets, Jodie said that she was aware of at least one manager who coerced girls into sleeping with him in exchange for fame.

Refusing to give away who the assailant was, Jodie wrote: “His day will come. It'll only take one girl to admit he plied her with drink & drugs and then hundreds will come forward. Mark my words.

“... but I KNOW he's been abusing girls for years saying 'I'll make you famous if you sleep with me' & taking them back to hotels.”

The star then added: “Too many powerful people covering up for other powerful people in showbiz unfortunately.... that's why I hate the game & don't do it anymore

“Unless you're willing to suck c**k you won't be given jobs IMO. It's all a little click at the top of people who look after each other...”

The star’s shock comments were met with a barrage of questions from fans who wanted to know more information - but Jodie declined to give any names over who the mystery assailant might be.

She simply responded: “With no proof I don't want to spend the next 2 years being sued for defamation."

When asked by one if she could encourage some of the victims to come forward, she said: “No because it's mostly non famous girls he abused by telling them 'I'll make you famous' !!!! And I don't know who they are!?”

Jodie’s remarks come after more than forty Hollywood stars have come forward and claimed that producer Harvey Weinstein had sexually assaulted them.

These include A-listers including Cara Delevigne, Angelina Jolie, Gwyneth Paltrow, Rose McGowan and Rosanna Arquette.

Kate Beckinsale also alleges he tried to ply her with alcohol after having her sent to his room at the Savoy hotel when she was just seventeen years old.

On the allegations, a spokesperson released the following statement to The Guardian: “Any allegations of non-consensual sex are unequivocally denied by Mr Weinstein.

“Mr Weinstein has further confirmed that there were never any acts of retaliation against any women for refusing his advances.”

He has since revealed that he is planning on attending therapy for sex addiction.
