James Redmond confirms he’ll be returning to Hollyoaks at Christmas as Finn – fifteen years after he first left the show
Rory 'Finn' Finnigan will be back on the Channel 4 soap by the end of the year
JAMES Redmond has confirmed he'll be reprising his role as Rory 'Finn' Finnigan in Hollyoaks at Christmas.
Soap bosses have decided to bring his character back for a guest stint and he'll be on screens by the end of the year.
Executive producer Bryan Kirkwood confirmed the news and said Finn will be on the soap in the New Year as well.
He told : "We'll be seeing a bit of James Redmond over Christmas and New Year. James will be coming and going as the much-loved Finn."
Finn appeared on and off on the Channel 4 soap from 1997 and 2002.
In 2013, James returned to star in the sixth series of Hollyoaks Later and also turned up for Tony's wedding to Diane during the show's 20th anniversary celebrations in 2015.
Bryan said producers decided to bring him back after viewers loved Luke Morgan and Mandy Richardson's returns over the summer.
He said: "We are so thrilled with where we are at the moment, with celebrating our heritage and bringing back legacy characters.
"I think there was a feeling up until our 20th birthday that we should always be looking forward – they were certainly conversations that we had with Channel 4.

"But now that we've reached the ripe old age of 22, it's fantastic to be able to celebrate the loyalty of our audience.
"Some of the people who started watching us as teenagers are now mums themselves, who are maybe watching Hollyoaks with their own teenagers.
"It's fantastic to have Luke and Mandy back in the show. We've got to strike the right balance. We need to move forward with our new, brilliant cast while also having a healthy dose of nostalgia."
