Pete Wicks opens up for the first time on split from Megan McKenna as he admits they’re trying to remain civil for sake of Towie mates
PETE Wicks has opened up for the first time about his split with Megan McKenna and insisted they are "civil" following the break-up.
The Towie hunk was attending the Specsavers Spectacle Wearer of the Year Awards when he had an awkward run-in with Megan.
Pete insisted that the couple would remain on good terms for the sake of their Towie castmates as they continue with filming commitments.
Pete said: "Me and Megan are fine, we are civil, so it's not a problem.
"There's no bitterness there at all so it shouldn't be a problem."
Speaking about the pressure that their celebrity status put on the romance, Pete explained: "Relationships are hard anyway and when you're in the public eye it makes it ten times worse because everyone has an opinion.
"We've both said that for a long time, but yeah, it is what it is. It's not ideal but what can you do."
When asked how he would feel if Megan was to start dating someone new, Pete revealed: "I think for anyone in any relationship it's always difficult to see someone move on but I'm not in that position where I'm looking at dating at the minute and neither is she so it's not really something I'm thinking about."
Pete continued: "I'm not looking to meet anyone at the minute... I still enjoy doing Towie so I don't have any plans to leave either. I'm not thinking that far ahead."
Megan and Pete were spotted filming scenes for Towie earlier this week.
An insider close to the ex-couple told us: "This was their first scene together since their split.
"They spent time talking about the problems that they've faced and how they're going to move forward."

The pair both attended the Specsavers Spectacle Wearer of the Year Awards with Megan apparently doing her utmost to avoid Pete.
The pair were sat on adjacent tables with Megan placed next to Nadine Coyle, Claire Richards and Spencer Matthews while Pete spent the night just six feet away with Love Island stars.
Megan looked incredibly chic in chequered trousers, a silk beige top with a leather jacket placed casually on her shoulders and a stylish pair of oversized frames, however she had a downcast expression as she posed for pictures.
Meanwhile Pete who wore a dark blue suit, white unbuttoned shirt, and round frames, insisted that they were both “happy.”
