Good Morning Britain’s Charlotte Hawkins reveals she’s ‘covered in bruises’ as she prepares to dance the tango this weekend on Strictly
CHARLOTTE Hawkins has revealed she's "covered in bruises" as she prepares to perform the tango on Strictly Come Dancing this weekend.
The Good Morning Britain news reader had a tough time of it last week after she scored just 12 points for her Cha Cha with partner Brendan Cole.
However, she's been putting in the hours this week to try and master her next dance but it's left her with a few injuries.
Kate Garraway said: "Show us your bruises, I know make-up have been trying to cover them up."
Pointing to her arm, Charlotte said: "I've got a bruise there, my legs are very bruised and battered basically, so I've been through the wars this week."
Speaking on today's show Charlotte revealed she'll be performing a "Top Gun themed tango" to the song Danger Zone on the BBC reality show this weekend.
Richard Arnold quipped: "We want you at the top of the leader board and out of the danger zone in the bottom two, are we gonna do it Charlotte?"
She said: "Yes, we're gonna do it! Well hopefully, fingers crossed!
"I'm really feeling it this week, the tango is a great dance. You can really get into it.
"I'm getting into character, do not mess with me."
Richard then joked: "Ok but remember on Monday you're leaving your husband because we need the press."
She laughed and said: "That's one way to detract from the dancing."
Brendan came to Charlotte's defence this week after her last performance was branded a "disaster".
The newsreader came under fire over her lacklustre Cha Cha and her partner hit back at her critics in a scathing rant on Twitter.
The TV star Charlotte suffered an epic fail as she scored just 12 points on Saturday night.
Her performance was branded a flop by sharp-tongued judge Craig Revel-Horwood, who said: "[It was] a complete dance disaster, but on a positive at least you’ll never have to do that dance again."
Brendan was also chastised by the panel for giving her such a complicated routine and they insisted he should've made it simpler.
The professional dancer has hit back at Twitter trolls who took aim at Charlotte over her routine and called them "disgusting" for "laughing at another's misfortune".
In a lengthy rant posted on the social media site, he vented: "I have a lot to say about last Saturday... here goes...
"It was definitely a tough night at the office & maybe the scores were just!
"What... I object to is belittling someone who has worked hard and is clearly upset at the situation.
"I have no time for negativity when... someone is down!
"It was obvious that things hadn't gone to plan and at that time you can be honest but constructively positive!
"This... can be humiliating at the best of times and laughing at another's misfortune is disgusting and although Strictly is just an...
"Entertainment show, we invest time and emotion into it and therefore it matters to us who take part.
"We are not changing the world... but we do care. That's all, rant over!"
Brendan went on to insist that he believes in Charlotte and said she will bounce stronger back next week.
He added: "We are coming back stronger next week, I believe in team #charcole."
Charlotte also got a grilling from her GMB co-star Piers Morgan earlier this week, as he bluntly told her she "bombed" during her panicked performance.
He also quipped she had been "drinking too much" for Dutch courage beforehand.
The "horrified" broadcaster went as far as to say his co-star would be "thrown under the bus" by her professional partner, Brendan, should she fail to impress in this Saturday's Tango - and quizzed whether she was putting in enough hours of training.
