JAMES Arthur has revealed he wants to get into acting after overcoming his anxiety.
The X Factor winner opened up about his aspirations to make it in Hollywood during an appearance on This Morning – admitting he likes pretending to be someone else.
He told Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield: “I would like to get involved in acting.
“My life for the last five years has been about being James Arthur, I would like to be someone else.”
The singer revealed he has starred in numerous productions as a child and still messes around playing different characters on his Instagram.
“I like to mess around and be different characters,” he said.
James has recently moved to LA and is considering moving in with fellow Brit Mark Wright, who now also lives there – so he’s in the perfect place to crack America.
The songwriter is currently in a great place as he promotes his new book, Back to the Boy, which documents his battle with anxiety.
Talking about his decision to write the book, James said: “I felt like I needed to help other people who were struggling with mental health issues. I go right back to my childhood.
“I felt a little embarrassed about writing a book, the only way I was going to do it was if I could be candid and honest.”
And speaking about his struggle following his X Factor win in 2012, he said: “I just couldn’t deal with the pressure that I was putting on myself. I felt like I need to be the best X Factor winner.
“I think I just got lost. I would focus on the negativity; I was still a lost little boy.”
Phillip quizzed him about his former relationship with Rita Ora, which he reveals in his book that he struggled with because he didn’t feel worthy enough to be with her.
Discussing about how to deal with that feeling, James said: “100% the main thing is you’ve got to like yourself, love yourself. I didn’t have much self-worth.”
