Love Island’s Chris Hughes reveals girlfriend Olivia Attwood begged him to propose – just days before their massive row and rumoured split

CHRIS Hughes revealed Olivia Attwood wanted him to propose - just days before their rumoured split.

The Love Island couple appeared to be on the rocks again at the end of last week after Olivia was pictured leaving a London club without her boyfriend, despite him celebrating his debut rap performance with co-star Kem Cetinay.

Olivia has since fled the country and thanked fans for their kind messages, but the couple have yet to officially confirm their split.

However Chris gave a potential hint at what could have caused tension between them the day before the drama kicked off during a chat with The Sun Online for his new TV show with Kem, Chris & Kem - Straight Outta Love Island.

Chris said: "Olivia wants me to [propose], she literally...yeah...wants to marry me.

"I don't see anything wrong with timescales, if it feels right it feels right.

"[But] I think it can a bit torture for the girl, if you get engaged and don't get married within a year.

"I've known people who got engaged and they're four years down the line and not married, I think it's wrong.

"Why give a bird that kind of false hope?"

When Kem said he thought it as "sweet" to make a promise to a girl that you would marry in good time, Chris replied: "You shouldn't promise them, you shouldn't get engaged if you're not going to get married."

Despite their talks of marriage, Olivia gave her first hint that all was not well with Chris on Thursday night when she posted a cryptic tweet which read: "And sometimes you do everything in your power to make things work, and it's still not enough".

The star then deleted the post, but was pictured looking tearful as she left London's Ministry of Sound alone after Chris and Kem's first musical performance of their single, Little Bit Leave It.

On Monday, Olivia broke her silence after jetting abroad for some time out from her relationship drama.

Taking to Twitter she wrote: "Sorry I have been so quiet, sometimes in life you just need a minute to disconnect and remember what's important.

"But thank you so much for all your lovely comment and messages.

"I can't replay to them all but I do see them and they feed my soul... I love you guys. [sic]"

Chris & Kem - Straight Outta Love Island starts on ITV2 on Sunday, October 1.
