AMERICA’S Got Talent contestant Angelica Hall stole the show during last night’s final but failed to take home the top prize.

The ten-year-old wowed Simon Cowell and his fellow judges Mel B, Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel with her version of Clean Bandit’s Symphony.

But it wasn’t enough to win and she was pipped to the post by 12 year old ventriloquist Darci Lynne Farmer who takes home the £700k prize money ($ 1 million) and wins her own show in Vegas.

In what has been described as one of the closest calls in the history of the show, the youngsters went head to head in front of the excited audience.

Darci delighted the judges with a performance of The Beatles’ With A Little Help From My Friends with two dummies.

Darci and Angelica performed alongside the other finalists on Tuesday evening but didn’t discover their fate until last night when Tyra Banks announced the winner in front of the live studio audience.

The finale featured performances from James Arthur, Kelly Clarkson and Shania Twain.

During last night’s final the judges showered singer Angelica with praise following her appearance.

Heidi told her: “Oh my gosh you are only four feet tall, but you are a giant! Unbelievable!

“And you know, Angelica, for me, I think you are the best singer we have in this entire competition.”

While Mel gushed: “You took the stage and you controlled every note. That was just amazing! Absolutely amazing!”

And a usually quite unimpressed Simon Cowell told her he was ‘gobsmacked’ by her performance.

Giving her a glowing report he compared her to the likes of Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake.

He told her: “We may be sooner rather than later looking back on this performance to go, ‘This is the moment your career started!’ Angelica, you have my absolute respect.”
