Nicole Kidman slammed by fans for forgetting to thank adopted children in her Emmy speech
NICOLE Kidman has come under fire from Emmy Awards viewers unhappy that she "snubbed" her two adopted children during her outstanding lead actress acceptance speech.
The mother of four, 50, has two biological daughters, Sunnie and Faith, with husband Keith Urban, as well as two adopted children, Isabella and Connor, with ex-husband Tom Cruise.
She told the star-studded crowd: "I have a huge artistic family who supported me throughout all my ups and downs.
“You have been so loyal to me throughout my whole life - thank you for that.”
“I have two little girls - Sunnie and Faith. And my darling Keith who I asked to help me pursue this artistic path. And they have sacrificed so much for it.
“So this is yours. I just want my two little girls to have this on their shelf and to look at it and go, ‘Every time my mumma didn’t put me to bed it’s because of this — [at least] I got something!’”
The Australian actress had barely left the stage before viewers began questioning her speech on Twitter.
Comments included: "I feel bad that Nicole Kidman didn't mention her other two kids in her speech. It's not their fault you adopted them w/ Tom Cruise #theEmmys.
"Nicole Kidman only mentioned her kids with Keith Urban in her speech - what about her kids with Tom Cruise? #hmm #emmys #emmys2017.
"It's def messed up that Nicole Kidman only mentioned her biological kids and not her adopted kids (from Tom Cruise) in her speech, right?.
"I loved Nicole Kidman's speech at the #Emmys but doesn't she have two other kids she forgot to mention...?
"Doesn't Nicole Kidman have 4 kids? Seems harsh to only mention the younger 2 in an #emmys acceptance speech."
Meanwhile Nicole kissed her on-screen husband Alexander Skarsgard on the lips as he walked up to collect his gong for his role in Big Little Lies.
The hunky actor looked delight to be able to lock-lips with the stunning red-head off camera.
Luckily for Alex, Nicole’s husband Keith Urban didn’t seem to mind their cheeky peck and clapped wildly as the 41-year-old walked up on stage.
During his acceptance speech Alex praised Nicole and his other female co-stars Reese Witherspoon and Laura Dern, calling them “the ladies” in the hit HBO series.
Big Little Lies follows the lives of three mothers living in a fictional California beach town in Monterey and also stars Reese Witherspoon and Shailene Woodley.
In the show, Perry, played by Alex, and his wife, Nicole's character Celeste, have a troubled relationship, which has seen them seek therapy to try and fix their abusive bond.
Based on the bestselling novel by Australian writer Liane Moriarty, this TV adaptation of Big Little Lies was born when avid reader Reese devoured the novel and passed it on to Oscar-winner Nicole.
Nicole said of the show: “I met Liane in Sydney and we had coffee.
“That’s where I said: ‘If you let us option this book, then I promise you that Reese and I will get this made.’”

The pedigree of people behind the scenes is as impressive as those on screen.
Ally McBeal creator David E Kelley wrote the scripts, while Oscar-nominated director Jean-Marc Vallée, who worked with Reese on 2014 movie Wild, directed.
Reese and Nicole were also both executive producers on the hit series.
Nicole and Alex's on screen was a highlight of the evening, which saw Charlie Brooker's gong for TV show Black Mirror and Riz Ahmed's Outstanding Lead Actor win light up a dismal night for British talent.
Saturday Night Live dominated the awards, along with Big Little Lies and The Handmaid's Tale.
On the red carpet, Jessica Bield and Sofia Vergara topped the best dressed lists while Ariel Winter's flesh-flashing outfit landed her at the bottom of the pile in the style stakes.
