Emmy Awards 2017: Ariel Winter, Jane Fonda and Lea Michele top worst dressed list after failing to impress in the red carpet style stakes

, Ariel said: “I was just looking for something different.

“I loved it and thought it was a beautiful dress.

“I usually do cleavage and not legs so I decided to switch it up!”

Ariel wasn’t alone in feeling a cold colder from the fashionista’s however, with Regina King’s Galia Lahav gown failing to make a good impression.

The silk dress was slashed open to her navel and had a large slit running up her left hand side.

Other critics pointed out the less than flattering detail at the front of the gown.

Lea Michele also missed the mark at the star studded bash in Los Angeles on Sunday night in a unflattering purple gown.

The Elie Saab creation, which came with a matching belt, was not a hit with the fashion pack and Lea appeared swamped by the material.

Jane Fonda was also cast firmly alongside the worst dressed, by opting for a garish fuchsia gown.

While the fitness queen appeared to be enjoying the attention, it appeared she was turning heads for all the wrong reasons as her outfit was panned by fashion critics.

While Tessa's rainbow inspired gown by Rosie Assoulin was a strong statement look, not many felt enamoured by it.

Carrie Coon and Amanda Crew were also criticised for their fashion fails, while Laura Dern's fussy gown was met with looks of disapproval.

But all was not lost for the actress, who scooped a gong for her role in Big Little Lies.
