DAVID and Victoria Beckham have become fashion, sports and music icons throughout their careers – and have carved a dynasty for their children to inherit in years to come.
Here’s a complete history of David and Victoria’s marriage and how it became one of the longest lasting in Celebland…
1997 – Posh and Becks start dating
The story of Victoria and David starts in the most romantic of situations – when their eyes met over a football pitch.
The pair were attending a charity football match when they were first introduced, and Victoria revealed that she wrote her number on the back of a plane ticket he had on him (something, adorably, he’s still reportedly got)
As the relationship began to blossom, the pair were dubbed Posh and Becks – and remained that way ever since.
The pair had been secretly harbouring crushes on each other ahead of their meeting, and David later explained in his autobiography: “My wife picked me out of a soccer sticker book. And I chose her off the telly. It felt straight away like we'd always been meant to be together."
1998 – Becks proposes
After a year of becoming one of the UKs most loved couples, David and Victoria announced that they were engaged and set to marry in the upcoming years.
Sticking to a much more traditional proposal, David popped the question to Victoria over dinner at a restaurant in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire.
Later that year, it was announced that Posh was pregnant with their first child.
March 4, 1999 – Brooklyn Born
In March 1999, just over two years since the pair first got together, Victoria gave birth to the first of her three sons, Brooklyn.
Victoria later revealed that she wanted a “blokey” name for her son in her autobiography Learning to Fly, explaining the expected her son to follow in his dad’s footsteps as a footballer.
She wrote: “We already knew he was a boy and so I knew he could end up a footballer, so it had to be a name that was a bit blokey.
“I had always liked the name Brooke and then we suddenly thought about Brooklyn. I’d always like it as a place – it’s very multi-cultural, very grounded. And it was only afterwards that I realized how appropriate it was because it was in New York that I found out I was pregnant and where David came after the World Cup.”
1999 – Victoria and David tie the knot
Victoria and David officially became the Beckhams we know today after getting married in Luttrellstown Castle, Ireland.
The pair had Brooklyn in the ceremony as their ring-bearer, whereas David's teammate Gary Neville took on the role as best man.
For the ceremony, the happy couple sat on thrones as they said their vows, and both opted for an off-white matching dress and suit.
They later changed into bright purple outfits for the reception.
It was reported that OK! Magazine bought the rights to their wedding for £1million.

Since being born, Romeo has adopted characteristics from both his mum and dad - revealing a love of football as well as a penchant for fashion.
The second son of the Beckham clan has modelled for Burberry as well as worked with Arsenal's youth team.
The fashionista son has also adopted his mother's pout in photographs as he begins to follow her footsteps in the fashion industry.
2003 – Beckham moves to Real Madrid
After playing with his beloved Man United for years and developing his career under the guise of the team, Old Trafford announced that David had penned a deal to move to Real Madrid.
The move took the entire family away from the UK for the first time in a £25million deal with the highly established international team.
At the time of the announcement, he said: "I recognise that this is an amazing opportunity for me at this stage in my career and a unique and exciting experience for my family.
"I know that I will always regret it later in life if I had turned down the chance to play at another great club like Real Madrid, which also has world-class players."
April 2004 – Rebecca Loos 'affair' exposed
In 2004, Rebecca Loos - David's former PA - claimed that she had an affair with him while under his employ.
David has never confirmed or denied the claims made against him.
The allegations put a major spanner in the works for the couple, who until that point had always maintained an image of a happy family unit.
However, the pair remained together throughout the allegations and never wavered on their united front.
February 20, 2005 – Cruz born
Cruz was born while the family were still living in Madrid, Spain.
In Spanish, his name means 'Cruz', and he took on his dad's love of sport and has been involved in football training with the Arsenal Academy.
In December 2016, he showed a promising start to a potential music career after his mum, and released a charity Christmas single.
Joined by dad David, before the song got its first ever play, Cruz told host Dave Berry how he felt about releasing his first single: "It's amazing! Its two of my favourite things singing and Christmas."
January, 2007 - From Madrid to LA
In one of the final moves of his career, Beckham agreed to join LA Galaxy for a deal with £128million.
At the time the move to the US was considered a win for soccer in the country.
AEG president, Timothy J. Leiweke, said at the time: "David Beckham will have a greater impact on soccer in America than any athlete has ever had on a sport globally.
"David is truly the only individual that can build the 'bridge' between soccer in America and the rest of the world."

After more than twenty years in the sport, David officially hung up his shirt for good and retired from the game.
