Doctor Foster fans in uproar as they are forced to miss the first 15 minutes of the show because of The Great British Bake Off

DOCTOR Foster fans were in uproar tonight as they were forced to miss the first 15 minutes of the show because of The Great British Bake Off.

The BBC1 drama starts at 9pm, but many missed the beginning as Channel 4's cookery show overlapped by a quarter of an hour.

TV viewers settled in to enjoy a bumper night of programmes this evening, with fan favourites Doctor Foster and Bake Off both on the schedule.

But Bake Off has been extended due to the addition of ad breaks since moving from the BBC to Channel 4, and it has created a dilemma for fans of both shows.

Many forgot about the timing issue and they were fuming when they realised they had missed 15 minutes of Doctor Foster.

Plenty of viewers also insisted they preferred to watch both shows live rather than recording them to avoid spoilers.

They flocked to Twitter to condemn TV bosses for pitching the shows against each other on rival channels.

One wrote: "As much as I like bake off, it being on for that extra 15 minutes really knocks me off for Doctor Foster."

Another added: "These ad breaks are extending bake off making me miss Doctor Foster. Ain't happy #GBBO.

A third criticised TV bosses for forcing viewers to choose, writing: "Whose idea was it to have #DoctorFoster start at 9 when #GBBO finishes at 9.15? Sickos."

One wrote: "Ffs, forgot that Bake off is on past 9 and missed the first bit of doctor Foster."

Another viewer attempted to solve the problem by watching the two shows at one.

They tweeted: "Note: Multitasking watching #GBBO and #DoctorFoster on two devices is not easy."

In tonight's second episode of the Suranne Jones psychological thriller, Simon targets former neighbour Neil by quizzing him about his romp with Gemma in the first season.

He grills him in x-rated fashion: "What was she like when you slept with her? Did you have fun? Did she strip off at the end of the bed because she likes to take her clothes off in front of you?

"She's got a good body, right? For her age? She used to tense right in the middle and get electric shocks through her body while f***ing. Did you do that?"

Gemma starts to worry about her son Tom, and one of his friends tells her he no longer loves her in a heartbreaking scene.

She later goes clubbing and gets caught out by Simon who snaps a picture of her drunk and dishevelled out on the street.

During her wild night she also propositioned her date, but gave up after the teacher insisted he didn't want to have risky sex in a public place.

Gemma also confronts Sian about her connection to Simon, and wins an apology from her co-worker, and threatens her ex in a bid to win back her son.
