In tonight's second episode of the Suranne Jones psychological thriller Simon targets Neil by quizzing him about his romp with Gemma in the first season.

He grills him in x-rated fashion: "What was she like when you slept with her? Did you have fun? Did she strip off at the end of the bed because she likes to take her clothes off in front of you?

"She's got a good body, right? For her age? She used to tense right in the middle and get electric shocks through her body while f***ing. Did you do that?"

Actor Bertie Carvel recently said he doesn't want anyone to think of Simon as just a villain.

"I've made a career out of playing characters some people might describe as villains, social pariahs," he told the Sunday Times.

"My approach is to make them human beings."

He added: "It's the oldest story in the book - a woman who is taken advantage of by an evil man who can't keep his d*** in his trousers.

"Infidelity is something that a lot of people do, and if you consign them to the moral scrapheap, you're writing off a lot of people," he said.
