When did Paul Daniels die and how?

Beloved performer Paul was diagnosed with a brain tumour in February 2016 and died just under five weeks later on March 17, aged 77.

Debbie said: "From diagnosis, he died four weeks and five days later, so there wasn't time to think about what was happening.

"We just had to get on with the situation and look after him. It wasn't until after he died, that the huge realisation kind of washed over me. I am out here, on this earth, on my own."

Did Paul Daniels leave a large estate when he died?

He left an estate worth just under £500,000 after debts and costs of more than £1 million were deducted.

Paul left the bulk of it to his former glamorous assistant and wife Debbie, 20 years his junior, who was at his side when he died.

The gross value was more than £1.5million but the net value was just under £500,000, according to his will.

The dazzling magician, known for his catchphrase “Now that’s magic!”, died at the couple's £2.5million home in Wargrave, Berks.

Debbie has since revealed that Paul spent his final days eating Magnum ice creams in the garden and watching ITV quiz The Chase.

When did Debbie McGee marry Paul Daniels?

Debbie married Paul in April 1988, almost a decade since first meeting in 1979 when they worked together on his Great Yarmouth show.

Before that, Paul was married to Jacqueline Skipworth between 1960 and 1975.

With Jacqueline, he had three sons, Paul Jr, Martin and Gary.

Did Paul Daniels ever win any awards for his magic tricks?

He was awarded the prestigious Magician of the Year Award by the Academy of Magical Arts in 1982, and was the first magician from outside America to receive it.

He also won the Golden Rose of Montreux Award at the International TV Festival in Switzerland in 1985 for a special Easter episode of The Paul Daniels Magic Show.

What did Paul Daniels do apart from magic?

At the peak of his fame, he also hosted a number of other television series including the quiz shows Odd One Out, Every Second Counts and Wipeout, and the children's television programme Wizbit.

In 2010, Daniels appeared on Strictly Come Dancing, where he was paired with Ola Jordan.

He was the second celebrity voted off, following DJ and actor Goldie and said: "It got rid of my inhibitions. That's a good thing that came out of Strictly.

"Debbie and I renewed our vows the other week and, for the first time in 22 and a half years, I danced properly with her."

What did the Magic Circle say about Paul's passing?

Speaking at the time of his death, The Magic Circle said Daniels had "been an inspiration to many magicians" and is of "legendary status" in the world of magic.

In a statement, it said: "At the height of his career The Paul Daniels Magic Show on BBC1 pulled more than 20 million viewers - that was more than one third of the British population regularly tuning in on a Saturday night to watch a magician make them laugh and witness feats of wonder such as his famous Chop Cup routine.

"In this day and age of fragmented media platforms, no other magician is likely to be able to achieve such a TV ratings record."

It concluded by adding that "the magic world owes Paul a huge debt".
