A source told: “Bond quits the secret service, and he’s in love and gets married.”

Furthermore, Bond's wife "then gets killed" prompting the agent to avenge her death.

The British actor recently confirmed he will play Bond for the fifth time in the movie - which has the working title Bond 25.

Daniel's last outing as Bond came two years ago in Spectre where he ended the film romancing Dr Madeleine Swann, played by French actress Léa Seydoux.

According to the insider, Madeleine appears in the new film, which opens with her happily married to Bond.

They added: “The film’s like ‘Taken’ with Bond."

The news comes a month after Daniel revealed he would be returning to the role.

When asked by US host Stephen Colbert on The Late Show if he had some "good news" to deliver about Bond, he said "Yes."

He added: “We’ve been discussing it, we’ve just been trying to figure things out. I always wanted to, I needed a break.”

But he insisted it would be the last time he'd take on the iconic role:  "I think this is it.

"I just want to go out on a high note and I can't wait."

The actor's news came despite previously saying he'd "rather slash [his] wrists" than play Bond again.

But he told Colbert the remarks had been made "in the moment" when he was exhausted after wrapping Spectre two days prior.

He said: "Instead of saying something with style and grace, I said something really stupid."

Daniel will begin shooting the new Bond in November.
