The tennis star, 35, is said to have been admitted to a medical centre in West Palm Beach, Florida yesterday before being induced into labour.

She welcomed a baby girl today, according to America’s WPBF-25 news producer Chris Shepherd who tweeted the good news.

In a post on the social media site, he wrote: “Tennis star Serena Williams gives birth to a baby girl weighing 6 pounds 13 ounces.

“Mom and baby doing well.”

He added: “Serena Williams baby news is from a source at the hospital.”

The sports legend is reported to have been admitted to St. Mary’s Medical Centre yesterday.

Reports suggest an entire floor of the medical centre was cleared to make way for Serena as a security measure and to help maintain her privacy.

The baby is her first child with her fiance, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, 33.

She went public with her pregnancy back in April, and later confessed she’s sure the baby will be a girl.

Serena told US Vogue magazine: “Two weeks after we found out, I played the Australian Open.

“I was playing in 100-degree weather, and that baby never gave me any trouble.
