Serena Williams ‘is a new mum after giving birth to a daughter’
SERENA Williams has reportedly become a new mum after giving birth to a daughter.
The tennis star, 35, is said to have welcomed a baby girl today after reportedly clearing an entire hospital floor so she could go through labour in private.
The tennis star, 35, is said to have been admitted to a medical centre in West Palm Beach, Florida yesterday before being induced into labour.
She welcomed a baby girl today, according to America's WPBF-25 news producer Chris Shepherd who tweeted the good news.
In a post on the social media site, he wrote: "Tennis star Serena Williams gives birth to a baby girl weighing 6 pounds 13 ounces.
"Mom and baby doing well."
He added: "Serena Williams baby news is from a source at the hospital."
The sports legend is reported to have been admitted to St. Mary's Medical Centre yesterday.
Reports suggest an entire floor of the medical centre was cleared to make way for Serena as a security measure and to help maintain her privacy.
The baby is her first child with her fiance, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, 33.
She went public with her pregnancy back in April, and later confessed she's sure the baby will be a girl.
Serena told US Vogue magazine: "Two weeks after we found out, I played the Australian Open.
"I was playing in 100-degree weather, and that baby never gave me any trouble.
"Ride or die. Women are tough that way."
She added of her birthing plan: "I'm not a spring chicken.

She was on maternity leave for the rest of 2017, missing Wimbledon - but she told Vanity Fair magazine she will be back as a mum on tour next year.
She said: "I definitely plan on coming back. I'm not done yet.
"If [Venus] still playing, I know I can play. This [motherhood] is just a new part of my life. My baby's going to be in the stands and hopefully cheering for me."
