The dark and sinister dealing of sexual abuse makes Una a deeply uncomfortable yet incredibly compelling watch
This film also wowed in building up to the tensest final minutes the world of cinema has not seen in a very long time

THIS intense adaptation of David Harrower’s dark, worrying play focuses on sexual abuse, involving a 13-year-old girl and her adult neighbour, and its far-reaching consequences.
We meet Una as a woman trapped by her past trauma of being lured away by Ray.
He was sent to prison for his crimes and her life has lacked purpose since she reached adulthood.
After seeing a photograph of him in a paper she tracks him down and confronts him, his new identity and his version of what happened.
Rooney Mara plays adult Una subtly, while Rogue One’s Ben Mendelsohn is brilliant as the man who thought he’d paid his price and moved on.
It’s a tough, deeply uncomfortable watch but an incredibly compelling film.
