Love Island’s Chris Hughes says he HATES being famous – despite signing up for his own reality show
LOVE Island's Chris Hughes has admitted he "hates" being famous - despite signing up for his own reality show alongside island best pal Kem Cetinay.
The 22-year-old shot to fame over the summer after swapping his Gloucestershire farm for the sun-soaked Love Island villa in Majorca, finishing in third place with girlfriend Olivia Attwood.
Since the show ended last month, Chris has capitalised on his success with a string of personal appearances, plans to release a villa rap with Kem, and has landed a spin-off show called Chris & Kem: Straight Outta Love Island.
He's even made friends with grime star Stormzy.
But Chris has now confessed he's not a fan of being in the spotlight.
"I hate it. I hate fame - straight up," he told magazine.
"I'm nice, so I smile all the time when people want photos, but I don't enjoy it.
"It's not glamorous and I just don't enjoy it."
Chris added: "I went for a haircut today in a shopping centre and there were 100 people waiting outside.
"Security had to come in and get me out - it's just ridiculous.
"I didn't want that, I'm having my hair cut!"
He also admitted to "missing" life on the farm, describing it as "different and quieter" to his current post-villa glam lifestyle.
The reality star won't be able to escape just yet, however, as he has plenty of high-profile jobs in the pipeline.
He's currently working on a two-part spin-off show with Kem for ITV2 which will document their lives after Love Island and their attempts to break the world of rap, grime and hip-hop.
Cameras will follow as the lads delve deeper into the music scene and discover more about rap, culminating in a special live performance in front of a sell-out crowd.
"Some of my best nights in the Love island villa were rapping around the fire with my boy Kem," said Chris.
"We're not here to take part, we're here to takeover!”
"The reality show is everything you saw of me and Chris on the show - but even more," said Kem.
"Love Island was just a tiny bit!
"I'll be on the farm trying to be a farmer. There's no way he's cutting anyone's hair, though!"
The Sun also exclusively revealed in July that Chris and Kem had scored a lucrative recording contract just days after the show ended, after impressing record label bosses with their self-penned villa rap, Little Bit Leave It.
An insider told us "Top record companies have approached Kem and Chris as a duo and there are big offers on the table.
"They will be releasing a single.
"Fans have fallen in love with them on the show and the boys want to make the most of their musical talents.
"It's definitely not the last you'll see of Kem and Chris."
Meanwhile, Chris isn't the only islander finding it difficult to adjust to his newfound stardom.
Kem told The Sun Online earlier this month: "I'm still trying to deal with all the fame.
"It's really overwhelming and I do feel so much pressure not to disappoint people as they're always so lovely and happy to see me."
