The Great British Bake Off fans left reeling over THIS shock ingredient in chocolate mini rolls
THE Great British Bake Off reboot kicked off on Channel 4 on Tuesday and viewers were left reeling over one VERY surprising ingredient in mini chocolate rolls.
During the first episode, the bakers were tasked with making the tea time favourite from scratch.
However, as the contestants set about the challenge, viewers at home were shocked about one ingredient in the yummy cakes.
Prue Leith set the challenge with new presenter Sandi Toksvig telling them: "We have to set the very first technical challenge which today involves Prue wanting you to make 12 chocolate mini rolls.
"That's 144 of these childhood favourites; each one of which needs to have a delicate chocolate sponge, a swirl of peppermint cream and covered in chocolate.
She then cheekily added: "Do not worry about leaving a bare bottom!"
Viewers at home took to Twitter in their droves to express their shock with one even saying that a peppermint filling was "tastebud terrorism".
Another wrote: "Peppermint mini rolls!?!?! Since when are peppermint minirolls a thing?! #GBBO".

Someone else said: "I was enjoying the new #GBBO until someone told them to put peppermint in mini rolls 😐".
Another added: "also are peppermint mini rolls really a thing? Have I been living my whole life wrong all this time? #tuesdaythooughts #gbbo".
Kate went on to win the challenge with James coming second and Julia third.
Many were surprised to find that mini rolls regularly have a peppermint flavour filling.
