Great British Bake Off contestant Julia Chernogorova, 21, reveals she quit her job after landing spot on hit show — and practised dishes for THREE years

A GREAT British Bake Off contestant has quit her job after landing a coveted spot on the revamped show.

Julia Chernogorova, 21, from Siberia, had booked private jets for clients.

She says she practised her dishes for three years before applying for a place on the Channel 4 series starting Tuesday.

Julia, of Ifield, West Sussex, said: “As soon as I heard, I quit my job.

“I knew I had to leave, otherwise I would not be focused 100 per cent.

“My husband Matt was fully supportive. He knew how much Bake Off meant to me.”

Her rivals include cancer survivor Chris Geiger, 50, from Bristol.

He was given three months to live in his 20s with Non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

Chris said: “I’ve only got one lung but I’m still here. I really hope I can inspire people.”
