GEORGE Michael’s backing singers Pepsi and Shirlie paid tribute to the late singer today, eight months on from his death.
The singers - who performed with Wham! back in the 80s – opened up about losing the pop icon on today's This Morning during an emotional appearance.
Pepsi told hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford: “I just have fond memories. I still can’t believe he is not here with us. Still very tender about it, so I can’t talk about it that much. We miss him dearly.
While Shirlie said: “We are lucky to have had him in our lives.”
Shirlie also went on to reveal that it was George that set her up with Martin Kemp, who she has been married to since 1988.
She recalled: “I did fancy Martin, as many girls did. We bumped into him and he gave me his number.”
She was however too shy to call him so George took it upon himself to dial Martin’s number and hand it over to Shirlie before she got a chance to stop him.
Fortunately Martin was very happy to hear from her and they have been together ever since.
George was found dead at his home on Christmas Day 2016 by his boyfriend Fadi Fawaz.
The celebrity hairstylist said: “We were supposed to be going for Christmas lunch. I went round there to wake him up and he was just gone, lying peacefully in bed."
