WHERE THERE'S A WILL...

Holly Willoughby ‘gets £200,000 pay rise to match wage of This Morning co-host Phillip Schofield’

ITV realised it couldn't pay the two presenters differently for This Morning as they were earning equal wages for the new series of Dancing On Ice

HOLLY Willoughby has been awarded a £200k pay rise to match her This Morning co-host Phillip Schofield, it has been revealed.

After 11 years working together Holly's salary is finally being boosted to match her colleague for the projects they front as a duo.

The new deal was struck during negotiations for Dancing On Ice, which Holly and Phil will present together.

Bosses realised that if they were earning the same £200k fee for the celebrity skating competition, which is set to return to ITV this year, they should also earn the same on This Morning.

It was previously thought Phillip was making £600k on the daytime show, while Holly was making £400k.

They will now have wage parity in a positive move for the broadcaster.

A source told the : "It seemed ridiculous they were going to get paid the same fee for Dancing on Ice but Holly was lagging behind on This Morning.

"Quite rightly, that has now been rectified and they both earn exactly the same."

THEY'RE HOLLY-ARIOUS From saucy innuendos to THAT epic all-nighter …these are Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield’s biggest giggle fits on This Morning

The news comes a month after the BBC published star salaries that revealed a massive gender pay gap - though ITV insists it made its decision before its rival's figures were released.

Only a third of the BBC's top earners were women, while only 10 were from ethnic minority backgrounds, sparking an equality row which Director-General Tony Hall has vowed to address.

Women's Hour host Jane Garvey said she was "incandescent with rage" over the figures, using her show to blast the broadcaster.

There were also fears of a mass exodus from the BBC with rumours huge stars like Emily Maitlis were considering leaving the BBC.

Meanwhile there were reports as many as 10 presenters could sue the BBC in a revolt over the scandal.
