Who is Tom? Great British Bake Off 2017 contestant and Edinburgh adventurer who was third to leave the tent

Cheeky chappy Tom is one of the tent's latest recruits... but what's he all about?

THE Great British Bake Off is up and running with the competition hotting up for the top prize.

One person who won't be winning though is dapper gent Tom who has now left the show. Here's the lowdown.

Who is Tom and what does he do?

Tom lives in Edinburgh with his partner David and works as an architect.

He confesses that he's "always seeking the next adventure" and is very proud of the he's currently growing in his garden.

When Tom's not in the kitchen he keeps in shape by running, playing rugby and skiing.

What does Tom like to bake?

Staying true to his Scottish roots Tom claims he "can often be found making fresh shortbread for family and friends".

Growing up baking was a big feature in Tom and his siblings' lives as they were taught to cook by their mum, a home economics teacher.

His family cherish the much loved recipe books that have been passed down through their family by grandparents from both sides.

What is Tom's social media?

He's a big tweeter, posting regularly from  expect funny memes, life updates and a lot of desserts.

Tom also has an Instagram account but unfortunately it is currently private so only his friends and family can enjoy his culinary snaps.

When is Great British Bake Off on channel four?

The new series of The Great British Bake Off started on August 29 and continues to air every Tuesday at 8pm on Channel 4.

The Bake Off was bought by Channel 4 last year amid much controversy,  meaning the popular cooking contest moved from the BBC.

There were a few casualties of the move so popular hosts Mel and Sue and much-loved judge Mary Berry won't be appearing on the new series.

The Paul Hollywood will now be joined on the judging panel by Great British Menu judge Prue Leith.

While the show will now be presented by Sandi Toksvig and funny man Noel Fielding.
