THE GREAT British Bake Off made a triumphant return to its new home of Channel 4.
One of the contestants who made it all the way into the final was young Kate Lyon, but she fell just short as Sophie Faldo was crowned the winner. Here's Kate's story...
Who is Kate Lyon and what does she do?
Kate is a 29-year-old health and safety inspector from Merseyside.
The talented young chef also indulges in a bit of blacksmithing, furniture restoration and yoga.
She's an outdoorsy lass and has grown her own vegetables - including beetroot - her her back garden for the past two years.
According to her Instagram Kate has also recently enjoyed trips to the Lake District and Vietnam, as well as a fancy trip to the Polo.
What does Kate like to bake?
Kate claims to be a fan of "old-fashioned" baking techniques.
Her Insta-worthy creations include a vegan brownie, sticky coconut buns and a lavishly iced strawberry and lemon cake.
She's also cooked up a mouth watering limoncello and mascarpone cake and a Rocky Road hazelnut chocolate tiffin with chocolate seashells.
