Boyband star turned farmer is now trying his hand at presenting on the Beeb’s flagship religious programme

The JLS singer had turned to farming when the band split in 2013 but last week admitted he was keen to kick start his TV career.

JLS star JB Gill has been announced as a presenter on Songs Of Praise

JB, 30, will make his debut episode spending the night in the grounds of a historic Shropshire church as he samples a new form of holidaying known as champing.

He will also turn interviewer as he meets one of the founders of Grammy award-winning gospel band The Blind Boys Of Alabama.

Speaking about the effect the BBC show had on his children, JB said: “I remember growing up watching and singing along to all of the hymns, many of which I'd learnt during hymn practice at my Church of England Primary School.

“Needless to say, I'm incredibly excited to be taking on this new role as a Songs of Praise presenter.

“I'm especially looking forward to combining my faith with my love of music, performing and my passion for the outdoors. Hopefully you'll also get to see me sing a few more hymns along the way.”

Last week JB confirmed he would be swerving any talk of a JLS reunion and admitted his dream gig would be to one of the faces of Countryfile.
