JB, 30, will make his debut episode spending the night in the grounds of a historic Shropshire church as he samples a new form of holidaying known as champing.

He will also turn interviewer as he meets one of the founders of Grammy award-winning gospel band The Blind Boys Of Alabama.

Speaking about the effect the BBC show had on his children, JB said: “I remember growing up watching and singing along to all of the hymns, many of which I'd learnt during hymn practice at my Church of England Primary School.

“Needless to say, I'm incredibly excited to be taking on this new role as a Songs of Praise presenter.

“I'm especially looking forward to combining my faith with my love of music, performing and my passion for the outdoors. Hopefully you'll also get to see me sing a few more hymns along the way.”

Last week JB confirmed he would be swerving any talk of a JLS reunion and admitted his dream gig would be to one of the faces of Countryfile.

Speaking exclusively to The Sun Online at , JB said: “I’d love to go on Countryfile full time. I’ve been working for them for a while.

“I love going on Countryfile Live, it’s great and it’s a big step. It will happen at the right time.”

“For me, my focus is on the farm.

“I keep entertainment music at the centre but right now it’s trying to have as much impact I can and try and raise as much awareness of the farm as I can.”
