Mel B denies she’s dating a Beverly Hills Cop at America’s Got Talent launch
Former Spice Girl was linked to a hunky copper but she’s shut down the rumours and insisted she’s still single
MEL B has denied she’s dating a Beverly Hills Cop.
The newly single star insisted she’s still a free agent after breaking up with her husband of ten years Stephen Belafonte.
Mel made the admission during filming for America’s Got Talent after watching an Air Force Academy group's performance.
After telling them how impressed she was with their efforts, Mel said: “And yes ... I am so happy to be single right now…”
Last week it was claimed Mel, 40, had found love with a real life policeman.
The former Spice Girl has a daughter with Eddie Murphy – who famously played the lead in the Beverly Hills Cop franchise.
According to , the former Spice Girl has been dating the policeman in secret for the last few months, amid her bitter divorce battle with Stephen Belafonte.
The website claims that Mel, who met the cop through mutual friends, is ‘nuts’ about him and he regularly stays at her house ‘5 or 6 nights a week’.
It’s thought the pair are keeping things ‘low key’ and he’s even showed up to America’s Got Talent filming in plain clothes, as well as accompanying her to a number of social engagements.
TMZ also claims sources told them that Mel likes him so much because he carries a gun and makes her feel safe, as she’s scared of her estranged husband Stephen, who she currently has a restraining order against.

Mel dated Hollywood actor Eddie very briefly back in 2006 and gave birth to their daughter Angel the following year.
At the time Eddie shocked his legion of loyal fans, and Mel, when he demanded she did a DNA test to prove she was his child.
“I don't know whose child that is, until it comes out and has a blood test,” he said.
Eddie was ordered to pay £35,000 a month to Mel for Angel, who is currently 10, up until the age of 18, which is a total of around £7million.
Despite that the pair have forged a friendship for the sake of their daughter and Mel has even branded him a ‘great guy’.
Speaking to the Guardian previously, she said: “We go over there as a family, we have dinners together, everything is fine … now. He’s a great guy.”
Mel is also mum to Phoenix, 18, from another relationship. and Madison, five, who she has with Stephen.
