Coronation Street Spoiler: Clayton begs mum Shona Ramsey to use her winnings to get him out of prison
Jailbird Clayton, who killed Kylie last year, tries to persuade his mother to shell out thousands to help him with an appeal, but will she buckle?
CORRIE'S Shona Ramsey will be placed in a tough position when her jailbird son Clayton begs her for cash.
The drug-dealing thug, who is responsible for killing David Platt's partner Kylie, makes the request when Shona comes to visit him in prison.
Expecting a cold reception, Shona - played by Julia Goulding - is at first taken aback when Clayton hugs her, saying he’s pleased to see her.
But soon he's begging Shona to spend her recent winnings on helping him to get out.
His sentiments echo those of Cormac "Macca" Hibbs, a criminal and old friend of Kylie's, who has told Shona that Clayton is suicidal and needs £6k for an appeal.
However, during her visit, Clayton lets slip to his mother that he’s running a drugs operation from prison.
Having returned to the cobbles to help bring down another despicable criminal, Nathan, will Shona waver to her killer son's demands?
Viewers can expect to find out during an episode on August 23.
Former grooming victim Shona returned to Weatherfield a month ago and immediately started helping former lover David put Nathan behind bars for his sex ring plot.
Despite knowing that Shona is in fact the mum of Clayton, the man who killed his wife last year, David bit the bullet and asked for her help to bring the sicko down.
After tracking down Bethany at a bus stop, the pair found themselves strangely bonding over their marked scars at the hands of Nathan – mainly the cigarette burns they’re now branded with.
Seeing how empty Bethany now looked, Shona decided to help David find some of the others – and soon found 14-year-old Lara.
As they talked to her, she revealed she was willingly part of the sick operation, because she had no home to go to and the deal provided her shelter (despite what she was forced to do as a result).
Eventually Nathan was finally put behind bars to the relief of viewers across the nation.
Sharing a cup of tea together, David told Shona she could stay around – feeling Bethany might need someone who’s had the same experience.
While their friendship - and possible relationship - is getting back on track, viewers have been delighted to see the return of the character, who ran off after David discovered her real identity.
How Shona's storyline with her lag son will pan out remains to be seen.
