SKY Sports News star Kirsty Gallacher is “incredibly upset” after being charged with drink-driving as it’s revealed she is concerned over what will happen to her.
Kirsty, 41, was allegedly spotted driving erratically while on the way to collect her two sons from her ex-husband’s house, at 11.30am on Saturday.
The presenter was said to have been pulled over and failed a breathalyser test and arrested.
Thames Valley Police said Gallacher has been bailed to appear at Slough Magistrates’ Court on September 4.
One source said: “Kirsty is incredibly upset. She spent several hours in police custody on Saturday after she was arrested, which was a horrible experience.
“Her friends and family weren’t able to talk to her, so they had no idea exactly what had happened, though they had learned why she was arrested.
“She is now back at home but is still recovering from the shock.
“And she is, of course, very worried about what the consequences of this might be.”
A police spokesman said: “Kirsty Gallacher, aged 41, was charged last night with one count of driving a motor vehicle when alcohol level was above the legal limit.”
The presenter was said to have been on her way from her home in Virginia Water, Surrey, to pick up her children in Eton, where her ex-husband, former England rugby union star Paul Sampson, lives.
The couple, who legally separated in 2015, have sons Oscar, ten, and Jude, seven, together.
Kirsty has previously said her marriage was the “worst investment” and admitted that divorce slashed her assets.
Hours before her arrest in Eton, Berks, Kirsty had posted a snap of herself enjoying a night out with pals at the Winning Post pub in nearby Winkfield.
Earlier, Kirsty had appeared on Sky Sports News alongside Jim White for a 6pm show to preview the start of the football season.
Her family was said to be furious following her arrest.
Kirsty, who briefly dated rugby star Danny Cipriani before striking up a romance with a mystery man this year, is considered a poster girl for Sky Sports News.
The Scot will celebrate her 20th anniversary with the channel next year.
She has become well-known for her healthy lifestyle and fitness regime, discussing her work-out plan in a series of interviews about keeping in shape.
But last year she admitted to the odd indulgence.
She said: “I am a healthy eater. I don’t really eat a lot of rubbish.
“But I still like to relax in the evening with a glass of wine.”
