EastEnders’ Steven Beale actor, Aaron Sidwell, to quit the soap for the stage – but expect a messy exit
FANS furious over Steven Beale’s outrageous behaviour on EastEnders are in for some good news.
AARON SIDWELL, who plays the deranged restaurant manager on the BBC1 soap, is quitting in order to return to his theatre career in a new nationwide tour of the musical Wicked.
And that is a good indicator the serial liar may not get away with his wrongdoing.
Steven’s current storyline, where he has falsely claimed to have a brain tumour in a bid to convince Lauren Branning to marry him, has had fans up in arms.
But I can reveal Aaron is already plotting his escape and has confirmed his departure as Ian Beale’s son with bosses.
A source said: “Obviously this storyline has caused a lot of controversy.
“Things are coming to a head on screen, but it’s going to be the end of Aaron’s time on the show.
“He’s signed up to play Fiyero in the national tour of the musical Wicked, and he loves working in theatre, so that’s his next move.
“The outcome of the storyline is being kept under wraps.
“He’s sworn to secrecy and so is everyone else in the cast and crew.”
The plot saw Steven tell Lauren, played by JACQUELINE JOSSA, he has just three months to live, after she threatened to leave him and move to New Zealand. It convinced her to stay but his tissue of lies is unravelling, with Steven now on the verge of coming clean.
Aaron is a theatre veteran who has appeared in shows including the Green Day musical alongside X Factor’s AMELIA LILY.
Whatever EastEnders producers plan for his exit, I predict it will get messy.

Strach's attacks
MOST people are allergic to things like nuts or shellfish.
Not MICHAELA STRACHAN, above – it’s elephants that bring her out in a rash.
The Springwatch presenter confirmed: “I’m allergic to elephants. What a stupid allergy to have.
“I have this thing where I can’t stop sneezing around them. I did Elephant Diaries and I was surrounded by orphaned elephants with their trunks all around me.
“The first day of filming I came out in a rash. My eyes were completely puffy and I couldn’t stop sneezing.”
Michaela admitted that she had such a bad reaction while filming the show that she almost had to quit.
Speaking at Countryfile Live at Blenheim Palace, she said: “I sat there thinking I never knew my allergy was this bad. I thought, ‘I’m just going to have to tell them to get another presenter’ on my first day of a whole series.
“But then I was quite enjoying it despite the sneezing so the producers put up with the puffy eyes.”
Luckily, there aren’t too many elephants lurking in Britain’s hedgerows so Michaela should be able to get on OK with Springwatch.
