CELEBRITY Big Brother's Paul Danan has made amends with Sarah Harding after she was left sobbing in the diary room following a brutal task - but pointed out she'd "hit him where it hurts" with some biting remarks of her own.
The Girls Aloud star, 39, broke down after watching Paul and fellow housemate Brandi Glanville criticise her during this week's nominations and make reference to her recent drunken night in the house, before clashing with Paul later in the night.
Tensions were still running high the morning after, with Sarah telling the diary room: "I don’t think I’m going to trust certain people, especially him.
"He’s playing a game. A very cunning one. I’m just going to be very wary from now on. I’ve got eyes in the back of my head, and one beady eye on him!”
Paul, meanwhile, wasn't feeling happy with Sarah either, after claiming she made 'hurtful' comments about him during their late night row.
He told some of the housemates: "She was hitting me back, really where it f**king hurts. Am I going to talk to her? No. She f**king took it too far.”
But the pair decided to bury the hatchet after explaining to each other just why they'd both been so upset the previous day.
Sarah told Paul of her nomination: "I know you didn't instigate it but it's just the way it was delivered."
Paul admitted that he shouldn't have been as "vocal" as he was when giving reasons for nominating Sarah.
The pop star, who has been open about her struggles with alcohol in the past, told Paul she was particularly upset with his remark about her drinking.
Sarah said she's only had one boozy night in the house, having gone to bed early every other night, and she felt it would lead the public to think she hasn't changed when she's worked hard to leave her 'Hardcore Harding' days in the past.
She said: "I felt it defeated the purpose of me being in here and you know what it will be like on the outside."
Paul told her he hadn't intended to be malicious, he was just genuinely concerned about Sarah.
"I was concerned for you - that was the reason [I nominated you]," he said.
"It wasn't out of malice or me trying to get you out of here, believe me. It was out of f**king concern."
Sarah said she appreciated that but added: "I just thought, 'Why doesn't he think before he speaks?' It was a bit personal and that's what really stung."
Sarah told Paul that she tried to "bite [her own] tongue" when it came to her response, but Paul said she'd hit a nerve with him, taking a swipe at his own past issues when she sarcastically suggested he "go to a meeting" and asked how his program was going.
"You hit me below the belt," he said.
"You hit me where it hurts and got a bit nasty with me.
"I see myself in you and I got scared. It wasn't just me, anyway, it was all of us that f**king decided [to nominate you]."
Sarah told Paul they should end the conversation there, saying: "It's done, let's not drag it out."
They both said sorry and hugged it out.
It was in stark contrast to the insults that were hurled the previous day in the house, kicking off with nominations which - unknown to Paul and the other VIP housemates - everyone was watching on a big TV screen.
Paul had said of Sarah: "She just seems to be talking about problems. She's always talking about the negative and not the positive.
"It's, 'Oh, I have a headache, I'm hungry, I'm tired'. It's all a bit moany and when she does join in, it's a bit too late and over the top and very cider-induced.
"For me, it's just not very real."
Paul also spoke privately to Jemma Lucy about Sarah, branding her an "attention seeker" and saying it all stemmed from insecurities she must have.
Meanwhile, Sarah ended up in tears in the diary room fearing that her CBB experience had been "ruined" and Paul had led everyone to believe she was reverting back to her party girl ways.
She sobbed: "I just can't deal with them... I just don't feel I belong here anymore."
Later that night, Paul and Sarah clashed in front of the housemates when he walked into the bedroom and accused everyone of talking behind his back.
Sarah branded Paul a "psycho" and said: "Paranoia. Maybe you should go to a meeting."
He replied: "Mate, that's really harsh."
Sarah refused to back down, telling Paul: "You are no friend. It's done now. I know where we are. I am done with it. You carry on working your program and criticising everyone else."
He retorted: "I am working my program, are you working yours?"
Sarah replied: "Carry on criticising everyone else and trying to out then all on TV for being p***heads. No, you just do that to me.
"Paul, you're a hypocrite and a snide. F**k off Paul. I have nothing to say to you."
