Bake Off winner Nadiya Hussein tells Brits to eat every bit of animals they cook – even the FEET
BAKING queen Nadiya Hussain has urged families to eat every part of animals they cook — even the feet — to save cash.
The 2015 Great British Bake Off winner said: “I’m a firm believer that if you’re going to kill an animal then you don’t throw bits of it away.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
CHICKEN feet, are popular in China, where in southern parts another dish contains pig brain.
Turkey tail is served in America’s Pacific Islands.
In Italy, it is tradition to serve a goat’s head to brides and grooms.
And pigs trotters, below, are said to have anti-ageing qualities as they are rich in collagen.
“I’m talking everything, including skin and feet — I’m not messing around!” Nadiya, 32, said her kids Musa, ten, Dawud, nine, and six-year-old Maryam, and her husband Abdal are not fussy eaters.
Talking to Radio Times, she added: “I’ve been really lucky that my children are very good eaters, they love tripe, cow’s tongue, kidney and liver.
“We never batted an eyelid growing up eating such treats and didn’t realise they were unusual for some people to eat — my father always had some kind of innards cooking.
“It’s a way of saving money as much as anything else.” Nadiya is co-hosting new BBC2 show The Big Family Cooking Showdown with Zoe Ball, 46, and judges Giorgio Locatelli, 54, and Rosemary Shrager, 66.
Yesterday The Sun’s Bizarre TV column told how Nadiya had shot down accusations her new show, which starts next Tuesday, was a Bake Off rip-off.
She said: “It’s so different to anything else that is actually out there.”
Bake Off made a controversial £75million move from BBC1 to Channel 4 last year and is due to hit screens soon.
