The Geordie Shore hit out after CBB was accused of copying Love Island
LOVE Island’s Chris Hughes has hit back at Marnie Simpson after she branded the people who go on the ITV2 show ‘civilians’.
The Geordie Shore star took to Twitter yesterday to try and defend Celebrity Big Brother - which she appeared on last year – after it was accused of copying Love Island.
In a series of tweets the reality star appeared to suggest she and her co-stars were better than those who went on Love Island and that there were celebrities, while the Islanders were just civilians.
She wrote: “Annoying that people would assume that CBB are copying love island, celebrities don’t copy civilians, more the other way round. Pipe down.”
The tweet did not go down well with her followers and Love Island star Chris Hughes clearly took offence as he responded: “Civilians?”
He later threw further shade as he tweeted: “Me and my fellow civilians, see you all in Southampton soon. On route; god bless ❤.”
Attempting to back track, Marnie, 25, wrote: “Not disrespecting civilians, but most of the people in CBB have worked hard to get where they are and for people to accuse them of copying.”
But this didn’t go down well with her fans either who pointed out that a number of the people on CBB had found fame from having sex on TV – such as Jemma Lucy and Jordan Davies, which a) is not too dissimilar to how she became famous and b) similar to Love Island.
Former Love Island star Katie Salmon also took offence to the comment and wrote: “This tweet is just so embarrassing.”
Latest news from the CBB House
It soon escalated into a bitter war of words between Marnie and Katie as they started in insult each other on Twitter – even getting rather personal about their looks.
CBB has been accused of being like Love Island since it started last week – thanks to the style of the house and a number of personalities chosen to take part.
This year's CBB housemates have a pretty pool to swim in and a cosy outdoor smoking area, decorated with fairy lights and decking.
Over in Majorca, Love Island's contestants also had their own pool, decked smoking area and lights strung around the garden.
CBB's housemates have a panoramic leafy country backdrop to gaze at on the garden walls, while the islanders had the real thing.
