Love Island’s Marcel Somerville reunites with the whole of Blazin’ Squad for the first time in 10 years
LOVE Island's Marcel Somerville and his Blazin' Squad bandmates have come together for the first time in a decade.
Following Marcel's recent success in the Love Island villa, all 10 members of the hip-hop group met up for drinks on Wednesday night, sending fans wild with hope the band could now announce an official reunion.
Marcel posted the group reunion shot to Instagram and it attracted more than 63,000 'likes' in just 11 hours.
He added the caption: "In the beginning there were two decks and a microphone.
"In the end Blazin' Squad stood alone. For the first time in 10 years, all 10 of us in one place. Reunion."
Blazin' Squad fans were thrilled to see the guys all back together after so long, and immediately began inundating them with requests for a full reunion.
One fan wrote: "I saw you all perform in Bournemouth in 2002 when I was 12. I would adore seeing you again with my girls so we can relive our youth!!"
Another said: "Actually never stopped listening to your albums! Would love a proper reunion not half of you that I saw 2 years ago on my hen do!!"
Four members of Blazin' Squad made a surprise appearance on the Love Island reunion show on Sunday night, coming out to sing the band's hit Flip Reverse.
The group have enjoyed a surge in popularity thanks to Marcel taking part in this summer's Love Island.
The Sun's Bizarre column exclusively revealed in July that the lads have been approached by music labels and promoters about a new tour and material.
Band member Chris McKeckney, better known as Melo-D, said: "If we can make it happen, then we will.
"It has to be done in the right way but we’re not against it.
“I think the first thing is, we’ve been doing a few shows, so to up that to a tour, if we were to do anything that would be the first point of call, see how that goes then who knows.
“Releasing new music wouldn’t be off the table either.”
Oliver Georgiou, aka Freek, added that while the group are interested in doing something, it could be difficult to juggle ten different diaries.
“We've had record labels, we've had promoters and meetings with various people," he said.
"There are a lot of diaries to consider, a lot of people to consider, it's not just two or three people, it's ten diaries to consider and it's been a long time since we've done it properly, so there are a lot of options to weigh up.
“That's the one thing – that’s the deciding factor.
“If it's something we can make happen and it works around everyone then we will.”
Marcel had revealed in Love Island that he was open to a reunion but, like Oliver, wasn't sure if they would get all ten stars to be involved.
He told the Beach Hut: "Right now I don’t think it’s the right time for the squad to reunite.
“Obviously I’ll come out of there and we’ll probably do some gigs but I don’t know whether or not it’ll be the full ten, but you never know.
“You might get lucky and we might do a one off but I’m throwing it out there. It’s not a definite but there’s possibilities in the near future that might happen.
“But there’s also possibilities that in the near future we could all get back together and do a couple of songs – maybe do an album.
“You got to give us time mate. Everyone’s doing their own little things.
“It’s a patience game man. Getting ten people together is really hard these days.”
Marcel, who finished Love Island in fourth place with girlfriend Gabby Allen, will be busy for the foreseeable future, after lining up a massive 53-date personal appearance tour taking him through August and September.
The musician will also release his own book, 'Dr Marcel's Little Book Of Big Love', later this month, after dishing out love advice to the islanders all summer.
