Celebrity Big Brother’s Shaun Williamson admits he entered the house in an attempt to rescue his acting career as he is sick of being known as ‘Barry from EastEnders’
TELLY fans are most familiar with Shaun Williamson as the hapless 'Barry from Eastenders' despite him leaving the soap 13 years ago.
So it's no surprise the actor, 51, is eager to shed the label and reignite his acting career by appearing on Celebrity Big Brother.
He told : "It is an attempt to be known more as Shaun.
"I think people will expect to see Barry-ish and will see a slightly tougher side.
"Whether that is a positive, I will have to wait and see."
The 'Barry' label stuck even further after Shaun's successful stint on Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant sitcom Extras, where Merchant's character Darren Lamb consistently referred to him as "Barry from EastEnders".
Since then, he collaborated with the pair on film The Invention Of Lying and sitcom Life's Too Short.
And although he appeared more recently in Casualty and BBC Three drama Sexy Murder, he is eager to be offered more roles.

He said: "When it comes to drama I am not offered it.
"I am not saying this is going to help, but at least it gives people a jolt so they remember you are still alive!
