Coronation Street spoilers: Steve McDonald proposes to Leanne Battersby after they move in together
The pair have bonded over their tot Oliver and recently decided to live as a happy family
STEVE McDonald is set to pop the question for the SEVENTH time on Coronation Street as he asks Leanne Battersby to marry him.
The unlucky-in-love cabbie (Simon Gregson) has grown ever-closer to Leanne (Jane Danson) since the birth of their son, Oliver.
Despite hooking up as a one night stand - from which she became pregnant - it seems fans' favourite Steve is hopeful of another stab at romance.
Yet soap fans are left on tenterhooks and kept guessing as to whether they will have a happy ending as his proposal leaves Leanne stunned - and reaching for the vodka.
His mum Liz (Bev Callard) plants the seed when she comments how well the pair are bonding - especially when Leanne agrees to move in and kick-start their family life together.
Upcoming scenes show the pair doting over their tot before they team up to practise the controlled crying technique, with the hope he will sleep through the night.
Yet the eldest Battersby lass eventually prompts him to get down on one knee - when she presents him with a football shirt.
She forgoes a hard party night with the girls in favour of checking in on the father-and-son bonding time and when she presents Steve with the top, it's decision made.
He asks her for her hand in marriage - to which Leanne swiftly reels off a list of reasons as to why it isn't a good idea.
Viewers then see her get VERY defensive over the father to her child while chatting through the proposal to sister Toyah (Georgia Taylor) and pal Eva Price (Cath Tyldesley), hinting she could have changed her mind.

Talking of Steve's proposal, actor Simon said it was "hardly the most romantic".
He revealed: "He says that they get on, they have a child together, they make a good team let’s go for it!"
And he too is optimistic about the outcome.
Simon added: "I think it will go quite well purely because we just enjoy working with each other so much
and I think that shows and comes across in the scenes, so there is a lot of scope for them in
the future - it is about time Steve had some happiness, maybe this could be it!"
