Love Island viewers post flurry of tragic memes about how devastated they are that the 2017 series is over
FANS of Love Island have had their lives devastated by the end of their favourite show this evening, and are using the internet to express their deep sadness.
Viewers have been turning their grief for the ITV2 series - won by Kem Cetinay and Amber Davies - into relatable memes, and many have confessed that they've been "sobbing" at the thought it's all over.
After Kem and Amber were crowned joint winners, Camilla and Jamie came second, Chris and Olivia came third and Gabby and Marcel finished fourth, the reality that the thing had finally ended hit viewers hard.
Meanwhile those who haven't watched the brilliantly addictive show this year have been very annoyed about how much Twitter love it's been getting.
Tonight was no exception, and GIFs of wailing babies and EastEnders characters have been flooding the site to convey how tragic the series ending truly is.
Some even said the image of Olivia diving into the pool perfectly summed up how "everyone in the UK" is feeling now they've realised there is nothing more to live for.
And while the winners have a rich love story to look back upon, it feels like a hole has been punched in the hearts of many who relied upon the show for the purest entertainment.
However, unlike Camilla with Jamie - who finally used the L-word tonight - no Love Island viewer had a problem declaring "I love you" to their favourite show.
more from the villa
Luckily for hardcore fans we know the series is back next year after crushing Big Brother in the ratings.
If you need something to sate your addiction until then you can always transform your own home into the Love Island villa and live the experience for the next 360 odd days.
