Jonas Blue reveals his hopes for making music with Canadian superstar Shawn Mendes
The DJ's latest single Mama is riding high in the UK charts
JONAS Blue has revealed he and Canadian superstar Shawn Mendes are in talks to work together after hitting it off at last year's Capital Jingle Bell Ball.
The DJ, whose new track Mama ft. William Singe is currently number four in the UK singles chart, went to see the Mercy singer in action when he performed at London's O2 arena last month.
Jonas told The Sun Online: "I met Shawn backstage. I caught up with him. We're trying to work at getting a date in. We're in contact and we're trying to make the dates happen. We are texting and trying to make it happen."
The musician added that their hectic schedules and being based on opposite sides of the Atlantic are making it tricky.
It's been a busy week for the DJ; he finished work on Craig David's latest single yesterday, which he insists sounds nothing like the material on the singer's comeback album, and he missed a flight home from Germany's Airbeat One Festival on Sunday after a night of partying.
When asked if he ever gets to enjoy his downtime after his sets, Jonas said: "I did on the weekend when I missed my flight. That was pretty intense. My weakness is women. Your friends are there, you've obviously got your whole rider of drinks and it tends to go downhill at that point.
"When you've got a flight to catch at 8am it's not really the one, but you stupidly do it.
"When I'm on the decks it's all about doing my job and creating the best time for everyone. It's the aftermath when you come off that's the problem."
He has four high-flying singles under his belt including the number two smash Fast Car, but Jonas isn't feeling any pressure to achieve chart success.
"I really try not to think about it I try and make the best possible music I can make," he explained. "And if it does great, it does great.

"The fact I've been able to build a profile through these singles - that gives me a little more weight where people know who I am as an artist and what I'm about."
EDM stars and DJs are often accused of "just pushing buttons" by those who aren't fans of the genre, but Jonas insisted it takes years of work to be able to perform to a crowd as large as the 130,000 people he played to at Las Vegas's EDC earlier this year.
He said: "I think there's always going to be jealously. It is what it is. They say you're pushing buttons, but it's all the years of experience knowing how to control a crowd they're forgetting about.
"The role of a DJ is being able to keep people on the floor for X amount of hours so you can't just push buttons to do that you have to have good tracks and a knowledge of where to take people."
Jonas Blue’s compilation album ‘Electronic Nature – The Mix 2017 is out now.
