Coronation Street actress Catherine Tyldesley plans to quit soap next year, say pals
Popular Corrie actress wants to spend more time with family due to soap's demanding schedule
CORRIE star Catherine Tyldesley has told pals she is quitting as Eva Price.
The Sun on Sunday can reveal the 33-year-old had already arranged to take a break for a few months early next year.
But last night sources said she now plans to go for good when her contract expires in May.
Catherine, who wed in May last year and has a two-year-old son Alfie, joined the ITV soap in 2011.
One insider told The Sun on Sunday: “While she loves the show, it is very demanding at times.
"And since becoming a mother she would like more time to spend with her family.
“Her break next year will give her a taste of life without Corrie.
“But at the moment she intends it to be permanent. She wants to pursue other projects.”
Catherine’s decision will be a blow to Coronation Street chiefs as Eva has won over fans with her feisty attitude and diva behaviour.
She is currently at the centre of a love triangle between fiance Aidan Turner (Shayne Ward) and best pal Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) — and is secretly gunning for revenge.
Last month she admitted struggling with tear-jerking scenes, saying: “I think becoming a mum makes your emotions more heightened.
"I’m an emotional wreck since having Alfie.”
A Corrie spokeswoman said last night it was “too early” for contract talks to have begun.
