LOVE Island athlete Theo Campbell is a thief who swiped a woman’s handbag from a kebab shop.

The Team GB 400m runner, 25, pinched the bag from a woman on a night out in his home city of Bath — then tried to claim he found it.

A witness said: “A ­couple were looking at the menu and he grabbed it and ran out but police arrested him.

"For a top athlete he didn’t make a very quick getaway.”

Campbell got a one-year conditional discharge and was ordered to pay £60.50 compensation by Bath JPs in August 2013.

It has also emerged his mum Sarah Dawes, 46, was jailed for 12 weeks for criminal damage and assault in April 2011.

His ex blasted him for dumping her days before joining the reality show — where he rowed with Essex boy Jonny after hitting on model Tyla.
