The mother-of-two has been open about how her body shape has changed since she became a mum, but now she's fighting fit thanks to her training routine with former rugby pro Mel Deane.

Speaking , Kirsty explained: "His results are brilliant. But it’s tough training – you have to know that you are going to work hard."

The presenter is a big fan of the strong not skinny ethos as she adds: " I think it’s a great look – it’s the opposite to size zero.

"I'm a mum, and I think it’s important for my boys to watch a woman train hard. I like strong women – I like the idea that we can do that."

Kirsty also admits she feels more confident in her body in her 40s than she did in her 20s.

Kirsty, 41, who is bringing out her own fitness gear range with Proskins, is a huge fan of the mental benefits of working out too.

She explained: "I always feel really good after training. It’s like I bounce out of the gym. You should always try to remember how you feel afterwards."

Kirsty recently had a painful split from former rugby player Paul Sampson, 39, in August 2014.

The couple, who have two sons, Oscar, 10, and Jude, seven, were together for 14 years and married for four of them.

Then in December last year, Kirsty collapsed live on Sky Sports News and was rushed to hospital with a viral exhaustion bug.

She explained to The Sun: “I was unconscious for three hours and on a drip. I woke up to someone pummelling my chest, as it was difficult to wake me up. I think they were a bit nervous at one point. They put two lots of saline through my body, and it was put in warm because my body was freezing cold. It was really scary.”

Kirsty is now a big advocate of practising mindfulness and meditation, something her sister Laura and Russell brand– a huge yoga devotee – have been helping her out with.
